Walked the dogs. Kind of a short one since we have not been walking them regularly, but a very nice walk. It is 60°! Perfect walking weather. I don't feel so wiped out when it is not hot.

Lots of errands to run this week. Sam's Club, Roy's Scripts, Staples, etc, etc.

I am going to try the new vet I took Bebe to a couple of months ago. Not only do they have longer hours, but they have 2 vets. They accomodated me in her emergency when my vet did not, and I really liked the vet I saw. They also have a good rep for greyhounds. Apparently the other vet was the vet at the track at one time.

Filling in at a bridge game tomorrow, too.

Back from the vets office. Both dogs get a clean bill of health, and are up to date on all their shots.

Walked dogs, and am doing some laundry.

Today I have to take the dogs to the vet for their annual shots and probably a cortisone for BeBe who is scratching again. It seems to be a seasonal thing with her. Not severe, but she might as well be comfy.

Her coat looks great. She has a large white spot on her back I never noticed before. Looks like her skin in lighter there.

Anyway, that will be my day.

I need to make up the bed in the motorhome today too. We are going over to Gainesville next week to see our friends. We are only 6 months later than we planned. BeBe got sick the last time we were going over there, so we never made it.
loveofgreys: (Trailblazer)
I vacuumed the inside of the Ford Escape and cleaned the dog spit off the windows. It needs the outside washed, too. Yesterday I cleaned and vacuumed the motorhome. That will last about 5 minutes.

Our Trailblazer is making very nasty and expensive noises and it is getting worse. Sounds like a bearing, or rear end going out. We took it in again and hopefully they can find what it is. The rear end oil etc was checked and everything looked clean, so who knows? I do know it will be expensive. Oh well, it has to be done.

Now, when I got involved in dog rescue, why the hell didn't I pick poodle rescue instead of Greyhounds? They sure would have been more convenient!!! Less hair and a lot less room. Maybe I should turn them back in? Ok, I guess I will live with it.

MDH just made some fancy brass name tags and attached them to their collars. They each have 4 hanging tags, and one fancy brass name tag attached to their collars. One tag for GPA, one rabies, one name with our cell phones and then their tag for their microchip. Which they shouldn't need if their collar is on. They also both have ear tattoos. Think it is a little overkill?

Bath Day

Hopefully we will get the dogs bathed today. It is really warm. (getting ready to rain) Then time for their flea and tick treatment they get topically once a month.

Almost walk time.

I am consumed with dogs!!! How did that happen?

I thought I might just post this before they are taken off the site. We had some puppies for adoption from the Greyhound group. We never ever have puppies, and they were only available to long time greyhound owners.

Some doofus at the Pensacola Track apparently goofed somewhere, and the puppies arrived.

The puppies, I understand, have all been adopted. One went to the Tri-State GPA just yesterday.

That is where the dog I picked up went.

Anyway, it is a big deal for the organization to get puppies at all, and lots of us have seldom even seen one.

They are adorable, by the way, but I wouldn't want another puppy.

Finally got the dogs walked in spite of the cold.
loveofgreys: (motorhometrees)
Our thermometer (indoor/outdoor) says 17 this morning. I have never seen it that cold here. The weather station says 21, but they are not here.

Today the dogs got two new beds that I bought at Sam's last week. Two old beds are going in the motorhome and can live there.

They take up a lot of room, but the dogs need them in the cold weather especially.

We found BeBe got cold with just a quilt on the floor. It is supposed to warm up tomorrow. Good thing or we wouldn't go.

We skipped our walk yesterday because Sandy has been limping for about 5-6 days and it was not getting any better. Thursday I called the vet back (She had just been in on Tuesday and he checked her leg) and he prescribed an anti-inflammatory Deramaxx 100 mg and we give her half a tablet every day. The first day we gave it to her after about an hour she showed signs of improvement and she is even better today. So far she has had one full tablet.

Amazing.

Sandy is still limping. I called the vet and he is supposed to call me back.

Well I still have had no one take an interest in changing any laws in this county. Bunch of ignorant a-holes.

Just can't be bothered. I seldom get all involved even though I should, but this is proof why I don't.

It is an exercise in frustration. I feel like a big doofus who is wasting their time, because that is what I am.

I know more than I ever cared to know about county ordinances here in the boondocks.

I have written everyone I can think of, and have had a letter back from the dog neighbor saying they are taking care of the dog and it is a temporary situation. I wrote her back that it was still not acceptable, but I know it won't do any good.

Until the laws are changed, there will not be a resolution. I have done everything I can think of to get the law changed in this county. The neighboring county has great laws.

Now I will step down off my soap box, temporarily, and see if any of these yokels actually try to introduce a law as they said they would look into.

One thing about beating your head against a brick wall, it feels good when you quit.

Here are two pictures from last weekend's road trip. The view of Choctowatchee Bay and the Mid Bay Bridge out the front of the motor home. The two dogs taking up floor space in the motor home. My new clock that MDH just built and put up in my office. We have so many clocks in our house that I don't know what to do with some of them. See the skeleton keys hanging just below the clock on the calendar? My maiden name was key, so I had a friend weld them for me.

Clean Dogs

Gave both dogs a bath. Definitely a two person job, but the dogs behaved very well. Not their first bath, but much needed.

Unlike other dogs I have owned, they don't seem to hold a grudge.

Just finished cleaning both bathrooms, too.

Dog Day

Today is our big Fund raiser/dog shindig at Ebro Raceway

We will go for a short while to let the dogs sniff butts and have a good time.

Last night was kind of fun. We had dinner in a smallish meeting room. There were about 60 people and at least 20-25 dogs.

They were all well behaved, and so were the dogs.

I am glad we didn't take our dogs. It was too much of a good thing.
loveofgreys: (Default)
I just spent an hour downloading a couple of ring tones, and putting my dogs pictures on my cell phone wall paper.

I need to find something more constructive to do with my time. LOL

What????!!

One of the Greyhound sister groups asked about BeBe. I told them no, and have to get the adoption finalized this weekend. We have not formally adopted her, but won't give her up now.

I already wrote the check. It is now official. We have officially failed fostering.
loveofgreys: (Default)
House work, yuck.

Lunch with friends tomorrow. One of the last times for a while, I suspect. They are moving the first of April.

Dog shindig this weekend. I think we will take the dogs, but no stupid pet tricks for them.
loveofgreys: (Sandy & BeBe)
We have almost talked ourselves into the big Greyhound Shindig this weekend. We are going to the dinner on Saturday night for sure since it is right here in our little town.

I think the dogs will enjoy seeing all the other greys, and we will officially 'fail fostering' and adopt BeBe.

I want to go and support the organization, and I am sure there will something there I can not live without.
